The way I came up with the idea to do my project was during my psychology class. My class read about an article on this and we discussed it after reading it.It interested me since it had psychological causes/effects,and it had to do with rights and responsibilities.I conducted my research by using the internet.I found all my information using the computer and surfing different websites due to the fact that there were no books written on this ,only articles.I selected this project category because it's title interested me.I created my project using Weebly a free website creation and Web-hosting service. What also helped pick my project category was reading about a portion of it in my psychology class. My project relates to the National History Day theme of "Rights and Responsibilities"because half of these volunteers got to be prison guards and prisoners. They had to act as these roles to see the psychological outcome. It shows that rights were taken advantage of and responsibilities were abused in a cruel manner and it should be used fairly and with justice. Finding my sources weren't so easy because not all websites had much information about it,they were very plain with data.I learned that this had a change in History also because it shows that when given the right as a leader it can lead to a bad outcome such as greed with leadership, you have no right to take advantage of other peoples rights. You as an individual should know when you have a responsibility to do it should have no advantage for the wrong reasons. Some websites I used also helped me see and actually have an effect on me due to the cruelty seen which were looking at the prisoner images and some prison guards. This Stanford Prison Experiment in my opinion is an important study for our understanding of how a type of situation like this can influence human behavior. From this I think situations reveal personality.
