The Founder and Superintendent of The Stanford Prison Experiment : Phillip Zimbardo
He wanted to create an experiment for psychology to have an outlook on human behavior when in power of a certain situation led a study established as the Stanford prison experiment, in which he chose any subjects to act as either prisoners or guards for two weeks.
Rights and Responsibilities as a Prison Guard :
-The Prison guards made up a list of what prisoners were allowed to do and like what they could eat ,they all had an 8 hour shift but every guard was on call for duty, none of them trusted eachother to keep an eye on prisoners right so they stayed on duty.
-They made prisoners clean the toilets with there uncovered hands .
-They were able to fright prisoners with little threats or gestures but meant no harm intended .

Rights and Responsibilities as a Prisoner :
-There were some who volunteered and ones chosen to be prisoners were greeted by a police officer who directly arrested them for ‘armed robbery’, handcuffed them, and took them in a car to a holding cell where they were reserved, fingerprinted, and had their mugshot taken. They were blindfolded and transferred to the make-believe prison, called “Stanford County Prison” where they were attended by the “warden” Zimbardo who told them how serious their crime was and that they were now a prisoner.
-They also wore stockings on their heads to interest having their heads shaved to take away any originality and they had a large chain bolted around their ankles that must be worn at full time to serve as a nonstop note or hint of their captivity.
-One of the three cells was named as a “privilege cell.” The three prisoners least confusing in the rebellion were given main privileges. They received there clothes/uniforms, beds, and were allowed to wash and brush their teeth. The others were not. The prisoners with the gain of also eating special food in the existence of the other prisoners who had briefly had the privilege of eating gone. The reaction was to break the agreement through prisoners.
-The prisoners soon followed prisoner-like management too. They spoke about prison concerns a great arrangement of the time. They gossiped on each other to the guards. They began taking the prison rules very sincerely as though they were there for the prisoners’ gain and violation would spell failure or defeat for all .Some even began siding with the guards versus prisoners who did not coordinateor listen to the rules.
